Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, the two French rugby players charged with rape in Argentina, are placed under house arrest. Their Argentinian lawyer, Rafael Cuneo Libarona, released a photo of him accompanied by his clients, which caused controversy.
While the prosecution decided on Wednesday July 17 to place the two rugby players accused of rape in supervised detention in a residence in Mendoza, their lawyer, Me Rafael Cuneo Libarona, released a photo the next day of him, accompanied by his smiling customers.
Posted on his private Instagram account, the image quickly went viral. It provoked indignation from the defense. The plaintiff's lawyer, a 39-year-old Argentinian, is requesting a sanction, reports the Team. Natacha Romano also reacted to the Parisien, explaining that this photo "affects the health of the complainant even more, she is devastated because it gives her the feeling that they are victims and that she is guilty.

No risk of leak
The placement under house arrest of the two players was defended by their lawyer who argued that guarantees had been provided and that there was no risk leak. In an interview given on Monday and reported by AFP, Mr. Cuneo Libarona expressed his desire to obtain this placement "as quickly as possible in order to preserve the ;rsquo;physical and moral integrity of the two players".
Accused of having raped and assaulted a woman in a hotel room on the night of July 6 to 7, Hugo Auradou, 20 years old, under contract with Pau, and Oscar Jegou, 21, player from La Rochelle, faces between eight and 20 years in prison.
