Jegou-Auradou affair: “We will do our utmost to help Oscar”, declares Grégory Alldritt, his captain in La Rochelle
|
"We're going to do the maximum to help Oscar" Jegou, declared La Rochelle captain Gregory Alldritt on Friday, September 13, about his teammate, who returned to France last week but is still being prosecuted for rape and sexual assault in Argentina.
"We were all concerned this summer to know that a very good friend of ours, someone who is part of the "Stade Rochelais family", was locked up on the other side of the world at 20 years old, all alone", indicated Alldritt during the press briefing preceding the trip to Toulouse on Sunday for the 2nd day of the Top 14.
"It worked on me a lot so I am very happy to know that he is in France with his family, with his loved ones. Now we will have to accompany him, (…) do the maximum to help Oscar, to help rugby, so that there are articles that talk about us in relation to what we do on the field, in relation to the values that are on the field", continued the third row from La Rochelle.
A request for dismissal still filed
Alldritt, who sent a message to Jegou upon his return to France, refused to comment on the case. "We do not allow ourselves, like some, to judge. We don't have all the information, justice has everything in hand, we will let the competent people do it", he explained, waiting "impatiently for this decision (from justice) so that he can come back among us and finally play rugby again".
Everything you need to know about the Jegou-Auradou affair
The third row from La Rochelle Oscar Jegou and the second row from Pau Hugo Auradou, who resumed individual training at his club on Monday, are still being prosecuted for "gang rape" of a 39-year-old Argentinian woman who spent part of the night of July 6-7 in their hotel room in Mendoza, after a French team test match.
The investigating judge in charge of the case is due to rule soon on the request for dismissal filed by the two players' lawyers.
