The father of the new defender of the Montreal Canadiens Joel Edmundson suffers from lung cancer.
The full-back, who shoots from the left, told the National Hockey League Players Association website on Tuesday.
“My dad is going through a tough time right now. Right before I got into the playoff bubble, I found out he had lung cancer, ”said Edmundson.
The son and father had a great time, however, when the 27-year-old was traded from the Carolina Hurricanes to CH on September 12.
“Being able to share the news that I was traded to Montreal – which has always been his favorite team – allowed me to relive my childhood,” said the defender who signed a four-year contract and valued at $ 14 million with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge.
“At home and in his office, all the walls are painted in the colors of the Canadian. He has all these memories of the Canadian everywhere. He is obviously delighted that I am playing with Montreal and that I signed a good contract with this team. The fact that I was traded to Montreal made him very happy. It has been very exciting for us. ”
Since then, Edmundson has made sure that his father does not lack elements in the colors of the Habs.
“I bought him all the hoodies, hats and many other things in Montreal colors. He wears them constantly. It looks great in these colors, ”said the Brandon, Man., Native.
