Joel Waterman attracts attention in Europe

After Djordje Mihailovic and Alistair Johnston, Joel Waterman could be the next CF Montreal player to export his talent to Europe. The central defender has piqued the interest of several clubs in the Old Continent.

Sporstnet network journalist Peter Galindo reported on Saturday that Waterman's profile would be all the rage in Germany, in Turkey, Austria and Greece

The 26-year-old British Columbian has spent the past three seasons with CF Montreal, but has upped his game in 2022. Waterman took part in 30 Major League Soccer (MLS) games, all starts, and registered three goals and two assists.

Sporting director Olivier Renard had a stroke of genius in signing the full-back from Cavalry FC , in the Canadian Premier League. Given his progress, he was even invited to the World Cup in Qatar, but was one of seven players who were not used by Canada coach John Herdman.

The European clubs have been snapping up CF Montreal players since its historic 2022 season. Midfielder Djordje Mihailovic was recruited by AZ, in the Netherlands, while defender Alistair Johnston joined Glasgow Celtic. Rumors also send the young Ismaël Koné overseas.
