Thirty years after having contributed to its rebirth into one of the rooms to show the most important in Quebec city and one week after the sale of the theatre to Quebecor, Jean Pilot announced that he was leaving the Capitol.
The business man and producer, one of the leading figures of the cultural life of the capital of the last three decades, announced Thursday afternoon on the social networks, the redemption of units by its partners, with whom he held still in the restaurant, the hotel and the room The Confessional.
Here’s what he had shared a few minutes ago:
“I don’t hide the fact that it is with great emotion that I write this text. Already 30 years have passed since I made the acquisition of this historical monument, and abandoned. I could never have imagined that this event was going to be the project of my life and that of many others who have accompanied me since the beginning. We have lived amazing moments together, great joys, great parties, challenges of all kinds, we have created shows wonderful, received great artists from around the world, welcomed millions of visitors over the years, both in the show room or in the restaurant and at the hotel.
“It is with gratitude and respect that I thank you, one and all of you who have helped to make Capitol what it is today. My fire team, our corporate partners, producers, artists, and of course the population of Québec and Quebec, which is appropriate for this place as early as November 1992.
“I thank very sincerely my partners, who are associated with me in November 2017, to enable me to carry out the project that I chérissais for the past fifteen years. Project, which was inaugurated on December 5 last and which will ensure the sustainability of this emblematic place of the city of Quebec. Now, the future belongs to you. With the Ristorante Il Teatro is on two floors, private lounges on the 3rd floor, a 5-star hotel for 109 rooms and suites, and a magnificent reception room called The Confessional, I can only imagine and wish all the success that deserves The Capitol.
“For my part, I leave with the feeling of duty accomplished. Through my production company of shows, I will continue to work closely with the team to Quebecor to develop, produce or present our performances exclusively at the Capitol and elsewhere, which will allow me to soften the grief of leaving today this mythical place as well as my team, who will sorely miss you every day.”
