La Piscinette: a project to counter a îlot of heat in Ville-Marie

UPGRADE DAY

A saltwater swimming pool installed in a container was born on Saturday at Jos-Montferrand Park, in the borough of Ville-Marie, which is known to be a major heat island in Montreal.

This is a pilot project that was designed to provide a space for relaxation and refreshment for Montrealers throughout the summer.

< p>Made in Canada at a cost of $50,000, the pool could also be moved to other areas of the city as needed.

“We are in an area where it is very hot, where there was perhaps a little lack of services and activities, so here we find ourselves with both a place that allows us to cool off, but where there will be a plethora of activities”, explained Sophie Mauzerolle, councilor of the City of Montreal in Ville-Marie.

Street trucks, yoga classes and animations of the Museum Fine Arts are also planned on the premises.
