Lance Stroll wants to redeem himself in sprint

The Austrian Grand Prix is one of three events in the 2022 Formula 1 season to use the sprint race. In Imola, in April, this format had not succeeded for Lance Stroll, who hopes to do better on the Red Bull Ring this weekend.

In Italy, the Quebecer had had to settle for 16th place at the end of the sprint, which he had started from 15th place. He nevertheless finished 10th in Sunday's race.

With better qualifying and a few places gained in the sprint, the Aston Martin driver could go there with one of his good performances in the campaign.

Lately, Stroll made up for his poor performance in qualifying with several overtakes in the race. He finished 10th at Montreal and 11th at Silverstone, so he comes to Austria with a bit of confidence.

“It’s a short and fun circuit, fast and relentless. You always push to the limit to maximize lap time, Stroll said Wednesday, his remarks echoed by the Next-Gen Auto site. I've had some good results there over the last few years and I feel like we can do something good there if we have a clean weekend.”

At the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, the 23-year-old has finished eighth and seventh at the two most recent editions of the Styrian Grand Prix.

“It is easier to overtake there than at Imola, the circuit which hosted the last sprint. So I hope to see more action this Saturday afternoon,” said Stroll.
