Large Library of Montreal : at the end of the drop-in respite care for the homeless

Grande Bibliothèque de Montréal : fin de la halte répit pour itinérants

The hall of the Grande Bibliothèque, which had been transformed into a “halt relief,” to allow homeless people to rest during the pandemic, has returned to its original function as the institution prepares to reopen its doors.

According to data collected by the Great Library, since the 12 April, a crowd of about fifty people per day took advantage of the facilities to warm up.

“Montreal has offered us a special collaboration in a special time to which we quickly said yes, especially as many of these people are our customers,” expressed the president and ceo of the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), Jean-Louis Roy.

The services of the institution are expected to resume gradually over the next few weeks.
