The PS candidate, representing the New Popular Front, was elected with 58.29% of the vote, against 41.71% for her National Rally opponent, Lauriane Troise.

The suspense did not last long this Sunday evening. Already ahead in the first round, but at the end of a very close fight which saw her beat her opponent RN to the wire once the votes of the Montpellier offices were taken into account, Fanny Dombre-Coste had gathered 33.90% of the votes, RN Lauriane Troise 32.28% and outgoing Laurence Cristol 29.10%.

10 000 votes difference

This Sunday evening, therefore, end of the suspense, the candidate of the New Republican Front came in first with a gap of 10,000 votes (36,860 against 26,379). The postponement of Laurence Cristol's votes will have been significantly beneficial to Fanny Dombre-Coste. The best examples ? Castries, Teyran or even Le Crès, yet the stronghold of the RN candidate. In these three municipalities, the extreme right came out on top last week. They switched NFP this Sunday evening. And not just a little in Teyran (56.08% for Fanny Dombre-Coste) and Le Crès (56.92%). Not to mention the clear scores in Clapiers (69.32%) or Castelnau-le-Lez (63.78%), Lauriane Troise achieving big scores in rural communities which weigh much less on the ballot: Villetelle 66.63% and Campagne 67.05%.

Up to 84.50% in Montpellier

As for Montpellier, the results are clear. Up to 84.50% at the Condorcet school polling station and 84.30% in Eugène-Pottier. The matter is closed. Fanny Dombre-Coste returns to this MP seat that she had already occupied from 2012 to 2017.

I don't know if the NFP will last, but what carries us forward are social values."

Congratulated by her opponents

Lauriane Troise, RN: "We suspected that it was going to be complicated; but our application has still progressed. in number of votes between the two rounds. We are not surprised, but I am disappointed for our voters. On the ground, there was excitement." The candidate also addressed her "public congratulations"& nbsp;à his birthday. A new period is beginning in which we will support the alliance of democratic forces in respect of the values ​​which are ours."

In the evening, at the Federation of the Socialist Party, in Aubes, in Montpellier, the new elected official satisfied the activists. However, the atmosphere was not one of triumphalism. "It was time for the holidays to arrive, commented Ginette, Bernard and Monique. We have traveled miles and kilometers. Fanny told us: it’s also thanks to us. We are very happy, delighted. In addition, she won with a huge margin of votes."
