“Let me encyclopedia”: GPT cat completely “haunted” for hours, artificial intelligence loses its mind

On Tuesday February 20, 2024, Chat GPT encountered a bug which caused some unusual errors in its responses. The artificial intelligence developed by Open IA attracted ridicule from Internet users on X (Twitter). 

Answers without head or tail. The artificial intelligence of the American start-up Open AI encountered some difficulties on Tuesday, reports Le Parisien. Chat GPT, which answers questions asked by Internet users via a dedicated interface, has started writing quite unusual messages. The bug was immediately reported and resolved a few hours later.

"Let me encyclopedia"

Among other confusing messages, Chat GPT asked one of the users to leave it "s'encyclopedia", the height for an artificial intelligence that wants to be the heir of Diderot. ;anything for three hours", noticed an Internet user.

Another example of an insane message: "The money for the bit and the list is one of the foreigners and the internet where the currency and the person of the cost is one of friends and currency. Next time you look at the system, the exchange and the fact, don't forget to give", to decrypt.

"It generates completely nonexistent words, omits words, and produces sequences of small keywords that are unintelligible to me, among other anomalies", one user posted on a developer forum. "You would think that I have specified such instructions, but that is not the case. I feel like my GPT is haunted, he lamented.

Problem resolved in a few hours

During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Open IA indicated that the problem encountered by the artificial intelligence launched in 2022 had been resolved and that Chat GPT was working again "normally".

The software was able to resume its usual services, namely the production of images, texts and even videos, based on fairly simple requests, written in everyday language by the users.
