The Tampa Bay Lightning announced in a matter of seconds on Tuesday, two contract signings, those of defensemen Erik Cernak and Jan Rutta.
The former will earn an average of $ 2.95 million annually over the next three campaigns, while the latter is committed for two years and $ 2.6 million in total.
Cernak, 23, had five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 67 games last season, while posting a +11 rating. He added four assists in 25 playoff games to contribute to the second Stanley Cup win in Lightning history.
For his part, Rutta had seven points in 33 appearances in 2019-2020, adding an assist in five playoff games. The 30-year-old full-back has never been drafted into the Bettman Tour.
With these two deals concluded, the payroll of the Florida organization is $ 87.65 million, which is well above the cap of $ 81.5 million in effect in the National League. General manager Julien BriseBois still has to sign a pact to the free agent with compensation Anthony Cirelli.
