Canal+ Group and beIN Sports announced on Tuesday the renewal of their broadcasting agreement that allows Canal subscribers with the appropriate offer to watch the Ligue 1 match on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., for which the Qatari channel has acquired the rights.
“Canal+ Group and beIN Sports, two of the largest sports groups, today announced the renewal of their multi-year agreement for the exclusive distribution of beIN Sports channels in France, including a major Ligue 1 McDonald's match per match (alternating choice 1 or 2) every Saturday at 5:00 p.m., at no additional cost to subscribers”, they write in a press release.
A renewal of the partnership between Canal+ and beIN Sports
The renewal of the partnership between Canal+ and beIN Sports, which began in June 2020, "brings together more quality content under a single subscription and at advantageous prices" and is "also good news for sports leagues and clubs in France because it offers maximum distribution, exposure and reach for all the rights held by beIN Sports", note the two groups.
At the end of a long saga for the allocation of Ligue 1 rights until 2029, the British sports streaming platform DAZN has acquired eight out of nine live matches per day for an average of 400 million euros per year, and beIN one match for 100 million euros.

Canal + did not take part in the negotiations for the allocation of these rights, in particular due to its stormy relations with the Professional Football League (LFP), which had preferred Amazon to it when Mediapro failed at the end of 2020.
