Durant toute la semaine qui précède le passage de flamme olympique à Sète, l’association Filomer organise une série d’ateliers pour célébrer l’alliance du sport et de l’esprit.

Literature is a sport like any other. This is at least what Filomer suggests, who has been working for more than ten years to spread philosophy on the singular island. On the occasion of the passage of the Olympic flame, the association offers a rich program which combines all disciplines of the mind with those of sport. And this for a week, until the arrival of the sacred fire in Sète.

Philosophy of Olympicism

We start with poetry on Monday May 6, with a workshop devoted to the relatively unknown literary work of Pierre-de-Coubertin, to continue the following Tuesday with a film club. This will be about the flamboyant epic of Team Hoyt, the team made up of Dick Hoyt and his son Rick, seriously disabled from birth, who together attacked the ;ironman. Place for philosophy on Wednesday May 8 with the values of Olympicism in question before a debate the next day on the same theme.

Friday, May 10, will be the opportunity to participate in science and sophrology workshops with, implicitly, the subject of the limits of the human body in the face of the ever-increasing performances of athletes. On May 11, the Sète book festival takes over with an interview with Pierre Assouline who signs Le Nageur ( 2023), a tribute to Alfred Nakache.

The arts of the mind and the strength of the body

The day before the arrival of the flame, writing and theater will be discussed with, among other things, the presentation of Uno truce in Olympia, directed by Maria Isabelle San Ginès. Finally, on May 13, to accompany the passage of the Olympic flame, the Lovers of books and songs take turns for a large public reading enhanced with musical interludes in front of the Pénitents chapel. One day, an event, therefore, to celebrate with the arts of the spirit and the strength of the body.
