7: 17 | Coronavirus: upsurge in cases in South Korea.

South Korea reported Saturday in an upsurge of cases of new coronavirus, with its balance sheet, the highest in almost four months, with dozens of imported cases.

The country reported 113 new cases, including 86 people who arrived from abroad, bringing the national total to 14 092 according to the Centers Korean control and disease prevention (KCDC).

This is the balance sheet-the highest since march 31, when the country reported 125 new cases. It is also the first time that more than 100 cases are reported since the 1 April.

A quarantine of two weeks is imposed for any person arriving from abroad in South Korea.

The country was in February the second-most affected by the epidemic, after the China where it had appeared. But the south Korean authorities have managed to control the situation through a strategy very thorough testing and tracing of contacts of infected people, without even impose containment required.

The guidelines of social distancing, however, have been relaxed after the holidays in early may, and the country had pretty much returned to normal operation.

Measures of social distancing have been réimposées the end of may after outbreaks of contamination in Seoul and in the vicinity of the capital.

The increase in cases comes as the country must allow from Sunday spectators to attend a limited number of sporting events.
