Lowest price in recent weeks for minced meat

The lowest price for ground meat in recent weeks< /p> UPDATE DAY

In order to help our readers deal with the repercussions of rising food prices, among other things, our new collaborator Myriam Gendron, creator of the site Just food< /em>, offers a weekly menu at a low price from the best grocery discounts of the week.

March 30 grocery discount to 5 April 2023

We find ground beef at its lowest in recent months, at $2.97/lb for the semi-lean at Walmart (it is also at $2.99/lb at Provigo) and $3.99/lb for the lean at Metro. Same for pork chops at $1.99/lb at Maxi and boneless chicken breasts at $4.77 at Super C: it's worth stocking up in the freezer if it's protein you like. !

And with Easter fast approaching, I want to remind you to start thinking about your menu, whether it's brunch, a buffet or dinner. It's the penultimate week of flyers before the event and it's always a good idea to start shopping for key items early (and bonus when it's on sale!).

Here are some foods that may be worth buying for the Easter weekend. Are you planning to cook a ham? The smoked picnic pork shoulder is more than excellent at $2.24/lb at IGA for holders of the Scène+ card ($2.99/lb for others). Also at IGA, the 300 g package of frozen smoked Atlantic salmon is on sale at $10.99, or 55% off. If you're a fan of the brunch, quiche, omelet, and pancake formula, watch for these bargains: the 400g block of house brand cheese is $3.99 at Metro and the pound of butter is $4. $49 at Maxi (limit of 3 per customer). Finally, the dozen eggs is $2.22 for Scene+ members at IGA (limit of 4 per customer). At less than 20 cents apiece, it's the best possible price.

Happy Meals!

FEATURED THIS WEEK

MONDAY

GLAZED GINGER AND MAPLE PORK CHOPS
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW!

If you want to save time later this week, consider cooking 2 to 3 extra sweet potatoes (also cubed): they will be used for the meal bowls as well as the salad for lunch.

TUESDAY

SWEDISH-STYLE BEEF MEATBALLS
Recipe taken from Coup de Pouce

GOOD TO KNOW!

I suggest you serve it all on egg noodles and accompany the steamed broccoli. For a shortcut to the kefta meal, consider doubling the meatballs you make, then it will be an express meal of assembly. Feel free to use semi-lean ground beef (the cheapest this week): the extra fat should go in the baking sheet and in the worst case, we drain or wipe the meatballs a little!

WEDNESDAY

ROASTED FISH IN SHALLOT CRUST
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW!

In addition to discounted fresh haddock at Super C, you can find a 227g package of frozen white fish (sole or haddock) for $4 at Metro all week.

THURSDAY

VEGAN TOFU AND QUINOA BOWLS
Recipe from Help

GOOD TO KNOW!

Here I suggest replacing the squash with the sweet potato, which has a similar sweet taste and texture (if it's already cooked, you can skip ahead to cooking the broccoli). If you were wondering, squash is in short supply in Quebec this winter due to a disease that ravaged last fall's harvest. The cheapest tofu can be found at Metro this week: 400g blocks are $2!

FRIDAY

BEEF KEFTAS WITH MINT
Recipe taken from Help

LUNCH

RAINBOW SALAD WITH QUINOA, ALMOND VINAIGRETTE
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW!

If your quinoa and sweet potatoes are already cooked, the recipe will be done very quickly. A salad is always a good empty fridge: don't hesitate to add vegetables that you have to spend!

SNACK

APPLE BROWNIES
Recipe from Zest
