Lulu Hughes a new, more personal album

Back with a new record on the shelves, singer-songwriter Lulu Hughes delivers like never before. 

Available exclusively on her website, “Built Near the Water” is his fourth career album, but also his most personal project. “This is the first album where I write songs that are really about me and in which I reveal myself”, mentioned the singer in a press release.

Twelve years after the release of ” Lulu Hughes & The Montreal All City Big Band”, she offers 10 new songs tinged with her rock, soul, pop and country influences.

For the recording of this youngest, she surrounded herself with her experienced collaborators , including her brother and accomplice Rick Hughes, with whom she performs the piece “Somebody Up There”, Dan Georgesco as well as Gautier Marinof and Jean-Sébastien Chouinard, who sign the production of the album.

“Comme une fleur” is the only song in French on the album.

The piece “Who's Gonna Love Me”, available to listen to for a few weeks, deals with his relationship with his mother. Echoing the events of the past two years, the song “Flames” for its part launches a vibrant appeal for solidarity and mutual aid.

To the original tracks is added a cover full of nuances and sweetness of the Bee Gees' hit, “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”.
