Jean-François Menteyne a reçu les deux distinctions. A. C.

Mayor Pierre Soujol, deputies and elected officials rewarded Sylvette Farneti, Jean-François Menteyne and Camille Soriano for their actions.

The tears almost flowed this Tuesday evening, July 2, on the square in front of the Médard museum.

The emotion was in any case more than palpable when Sylvette Farneti, Jean-François Menteyne and Camille Soriano were decorated with the City medal for the first two and the Citizen of D& ;rsquo;honor for the third (he had already received the circular distinction from the hands of Mayor Claude Barral in the 80s).

"Iconic Personalities"

Pierre Soujol began the ceremony with an appropriate speech for "these three emblematic personalities who contributed to keeping our traditions alive".

The first councilor left the floor to his deputies Stéphane Dalle, Stéphane Alibert and Laurent Grasset who retraced the lives, commitments, investments – even dedications – of these Pescalunes who have worked so hard and are still working for the city of Lunel, its territory, its memory.

Passion, actions and love for their city

Sylvette Farneti, president of the La Cocarde bullfighting club and the Pescalune Trophy, co-president of the ATP but also a woman behind the scenes in multiple actions, was the first to receive the City medal before giving way to Jean -François Menteyne.

L’lover of Lunel, passionate about old postcards and photos to the point of publishing two books, also former manager of the Gallia football club and member of the committee for the reconstruction of the Statue of Liberty, in turn left the stage to Camille Soriano.

Former municipal sports official in the 1970s, he is at the origin, among other things, of the modernization of sports equipment and the creation of the municipal sports school, the fitness trail Les Petits pins… and even the Lunel tambourine club.

The three winners were thus honored by the municipality as well as their families and friends who came to applaud them for this deserved honorary distinction.

An aperitif offered by the municipality brought a convivial and gourmet end to this moving moment.
