Two suitcases containing human remains were discovered on Clifton Bridge in Bristol on the night of Wednesday 10th to Thursday 11th July 2024. Somerset and Avon Police have launched a large-scale search for a man suspect seen on the bridge shortly before midnight.

Arriving within ten minutes, they found the suitcase but the individual had already left. While searching for him, the police discovered a second suitcase. "Immediate priority" : find the suspect

Officers immediately cordoned off the area. For Vicks Hayward-Melen, Bristol's acting commander, the "immediate priority is to locate the man who brought the suitcases to the bridge, d’ identify the deceased person and inform their loved ones."

According to initial investigations, the man arrived by taxi. The driver's testimony and the video surveillance images made it possible to establish a description: "A black man with a beard. He was wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket, black sneakers with thick white soles and a black backpack." A call for identification has been launched , but due to lack of additional information, research continues. Somerset and Avon Police are supported by a National Police Air helicopter and Her Majesty's Coastguard.

A forensic autopsy is also underway to identify the victim. As the suspect has still not been found, it is currently not possible to cross the suspension bridge and the visitor reception center is closed, recalls the British media. ;Skynews.
