Magic tricks given to six young patients at Sète hospital

This distribution took place as part of the national event “The biggest day of magic in hospitals”. 

In socks in the hallway, Mady never takes off her brand new magic wand. “It's too good", says Chloé, with whom she shares her hospital room. The two girls, aged 3 and 6 respectively, received a pack of cards, three tricks and a magician's kit as part of the Biggest Day of Magic in Hospitals, organized this Wednesday, September 11 at the national level. At the Sète hospital, the packages were sent to the pediatric department, which was delighted yesterday to show a few tricks to six hospitalized children.

“You have to close it to start it again. Do you want to try ?“, asks Sandra Payrat. The young nurse does not hesitate, as she passes through the different rooms, to offer demonstrations. “Bravo, you threw it better than me. You can show your brothers and sisters when you get home”, she congratulates a little girl who is at first hesitant to grab the famous magic wand.

“We postponed the nap on purpose”

Nurses and childcare assistants took turns at the beginning of the afternoon to explain the principle of this distribution to the children. All assure that these operations organized by the association Magie à l'hôpital or the arrival of clowns in the department "create a bubble of magic. For the children, it does them good at the time. It can also relax the parents who are often stressed and for the teams, it is also a break in the day".

And Maëva is not the one who would say otherwise. “The day was starting to be long, attests the mother of little Mady hospitalized for a bacteria for a few days. She had been waiting for the distribution since a while ago, so we postponed the nap on purpose”. Even Constance, aged 16, is delighted to receive this touch of attention. “We're going to give you a trick that's more appropriate for your age“, a caregiver reassures her. Abracadabra. 

50,000 gifts in 225 hospitals

For the first time, the Magic at the Hospital association, sponsored by Eric Antoine, organized the Biggest Day of Magic in Hospitals this Wednesday, September 11. This national event allowed 50,000 magic tricks to be distributed in 225 pediatric departments. For the occasion, 52 professional magicians performed in 25 establishments in metropolitan France and more than 300 volunteers mobilized to brighten the day of the little patients. For several years, every Christmas, the association has distributed 10,000 gifts, as was the case last year at the Sète hospital.
