Maison du monde in economic difficulty: the brand will close or transfer 40 to 50 stores by 2026

This Tuesday, March 12, the Maison du Monde brand announced that it wanted to close or transfer around fifty stores out of the 340 in its network by 2026.

Maisons du Monde announced on Tuesday that it plans to close and/or transfer 40 to 50 of its stores, in order to reduce its "capital intensity", after recording a decline in turnover in 2023.

The distributor specializing in furniture and decoration also indicated in a press release that it wants to move around 30% of its network to affiliation or franchise by 2026.

Turnover down

Maisons du Monde posted a turnover down 9.3% in 2023, to 1.13 billion euros, in a context of weak demand and macroeconomic uncertainties.

On the Paris Stock Exchange, Maisons du Monde shares lost 3.7% at 08:42 GMT.
