Of the 10 billion euros in savings announced by the government, one billion will be taken from the budget of the MaPrimeRénov housing energy renovation aid system. The executive must detail the consequences of these restrictions at the beginning of March.

While the time has come to save money, with a target of 10 billion euros in savings announced by the government, the budget for MaPrimeRénov, a government system aimed at promoting energy renovation of housing, is revised downwards.

Last autumn, the government planned to devote an additional 1.6 billion euros to MaPrimeRénov in 2024, bringing the total aid budget to 5 billion ;#39;euros. The increase this year will ultimately only be 600 million euros, declared the Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno le Maire, i.e. a global budget for the ;#39;year of 4 billion euros.

Revision of the DPE calculation

Besides the need to "save money", the Minister of Accounts, Thomas Cazenave, explained this planing first by revising the calculation of the energy performance diagnosis, undertaken by Christope Béchu, "which can change the overall number of housing units to renovate.

This budget cut risks making it difficult to meet the government's objectives in terms of building renovation, wishing to renovate 200,000 homes this year. The poorest households are likely to be most impacted by this decision given that the system was modified at the start of the year with more restrictive resource conditions.

Details known next March

Contacted by Capital, the Ministry of Ecological Transition Christophe Béchu however promises that &quot ;all French people wishing to carry out an energy renovation of their home have the assurance of having sufficient aid in 2024.

The renovation stakeholders have agreed on three developments to be made to MaPrimeRénov' this year: limit the obligations to use an approved guide only to the highest subsidies, simplify the RGE label and lift financing restrictions concerning simple renovation actions and effective.

The details of the reform should be revealed at the beginning of March, after the next working meeting on the subject.
