MONTREAL-Many Montrealers seem to be willing to comply with the regulations of the City to require the wearing of masks in public places closed from 27 July to avoid new cases of COVID-19.
Citizens crusaders in the district of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve were predominantly in agreement with the announcement made on Monday by the mayor of Montréal, Valérie Plant. About thirty of the people surveyed by the “24 Hours” on Tuesday, only four were the new measure of coercion.
“I find that it makes too. It is correct for the metro, but if I’m going to buy me something soon, I don’t know if I have my mask, wore by example Leah Corbeil. This last provided for any of the same comply with the rule to avoid a potential fine.
For Nicole, the cross-while she was shopping with her sister, wearing a mask makes his daily life a little more complicated. The two women were equipped with visors to replace the mask. “I’m deaf, I have to read lips. When people wear the mask, I can’t do that,” she explained.
Protect the other
Most of the people surveyed welcomed, however, this new measure as positive and consider that it will help to prevent an upsurge in cases of COVID-19. This was the case with Georgette Gaudreault, who stressed from the outset to wear the mask in all the stores, even if it feels choked. “We’re going to be forced to reconfiner [otherwise]. It is well that it should be mandatory. We don’t have the choice, it will be worse otherwise”, she believes.
While walking in the neighborhood, Ms. Gaudreault advance, moreover, to have seen crowded bars with very little social distancing. The obligation of wearing a mask will be so useful in these situations.
For his part, Omer Renault also welcomed the news. “I protect the other, but the other does not protect me not. It must be done if one wants full protection”, has he supported, with his mask. It is considered that approximately 80 % of the people that he crosses in the shops of the neighbourhood are already wearing the mask.
Same sound of bell on the side of Lynda Doucet. “It is to prevent. Is better to prevent. It is sure that you don’t like it, but we don’t have a choice. It is necessary that I comply with that,” she said.
