Mazan rape case: zoophilic videos, debauchery, neighbor… what the seven accused heard this week were hiding

From this Monday, September 30, 2024, the trial of the Mazan rapes resumes at the criminal court of Vaucluse. Seven people, accused of having gone to the home of Dominique Pelicot in order to rape his wife without her knowledge, will be heard.

New profiles will be examined in court this week. As the trial for aggravated rape resumes in Avignon, the court will focus on seven accused. They are among the dozens of people who raped Gisèle Pelicot without her knowledge, at the Pelicot family home in Mazan, until 2020.

Meeting on "Coco"

The first was nicknamed “Bill” in Dominique Pelicot's video files, reports France bleu. A follower of libertinage, he allegedly went to the villa in Mazan the day he made contact with Gisèle's husband, via the site “Coco”. It is an anonymous instant messaging service.

Jean T., 52, denies the facts and suspects Dominique Pelicot of drugging him. The latter denies it.

The nurse

Redouan E., 55, was a nurse in Vaucluse at the time of the events. He says he did not realize that Gisèle Pelicot was drugged at the time of the alleged events.

For him: “I did not force anyone, I did not surprise anyone, I am rather the victim of a characterized ruse." He thought, he said, to take part in a libertine meeting.

Zoophilic videos

Aged 61, Thierry Po. has three children. He said that according to him it was a consensual relationship at the time of the alleged facts. In addition, investigators found 656 photos and 419 videos of a child pornography nature on his computer.

Some of these files, our colleagues indicate, were of a zoophilic nature. He admits to having these images but not to raping Gisèle Pelicot.

The neighbor

This accused lived in Mazan. Simone M., 42 years old, was the neighbor of the Pelicot couple. If during the investigation , he said he deserved the "hanging" for his actions, at the opening of the trial, he did not admit the facts.

Father of five children and employed in construction, he appears in a video dating from 2018 on Dominique Pelicot's computer.

Whisky-Coca

Thierry Pa., 53, says he has no memory of the events. On the day a video that allowed him to be identified was filmed, he allegedly drank a glass of whisky and Coke. He suspects Dominique Pelicot of having added drugs to it, which the latter denies.

Having suffered from depression after the death of his son, he was committed to a psychiatric hospital after being identified in the investigation.

On six occasions

Aged 46, Jérôme V. admits to the facts. He is said to have visited the Pelicot home six times. Described by his own wife as "unfaithful", he is said to have an out-of-control sexuality. She also told investigators that she herself had suffered from memory loss.

The accused explained that he had been physically and psychologically abused by his parents during his youth.

The scenario

For Adrien L., 34, he went to Dominique Pelicot's house to perform a "scenario". According to him, the presence of Gisèle's husband ruled out the possibility that it could have been rape.

He denied the facts at the start of the trial. In the past, he had been convicted three times for rapeby the Vaucluse Assize Court. He had allegedly been a victim of violence as a child.
