Medef Hérault Montpellier organizes its REF: “The company must think about how to adapt”

The Montpellier employers' union is organizing the third edition of its Rencontre des entrepreneurs de France on Thursday, September 12, in Mauguio, on the theme “We're shaking everything up!”.
It has become the economic meeting of the start of the school year for economic players in the greater Montpellier region. The Meeting of Entrepreneurs of France (REF) is back. Organized by the Medef Hérault Montpellier, it is being held on Thursday, September 12, at the Grands Chais de Mauguio, around the theme “We're shaking everything up! “.
Nearly a thousand people are expected. “It has become the economic meeting of the start of the school year”,insists Jean-Marc Oluski, president of Medef Hérault Montpellier. Two years ago, he was one of the first at the national level to roll out the major national employers' meeting in the region, which is held at the end of August in the Paris region, organized by the leading employers' union.
“Sharing debates on issues with changes in society”
Indeed, Medef Montpellier was one of the first, at the start of the 2022 school year, to take up the concept of this major meeting in its region, which allows business leaders to exchange and debate on topics and issues that concern them first and foremost. “The idea is to share the debates on the issues with the evolutions of society and the younger generations”.
This year, the theme of the third edition of the REF is “We're shaking everything up! “. It is not dictated by the political situation that the country has been experiencing since the beginning of the summer and the dissolution of the National Assembly. But the context, even if it has changed in recent days, will inevitably weigh.
Montpellier researcher Franck Molina will come to talk about the… brain
“This year, we invite business leaders to think about new ways of operating in the company, deciphers Jean-Marc Oluski. The company remains, today, still in the growth project, but it must also integrate new subjects, such as that of decarbonization. To do this, it must adapt and commit to the necessary investments to achieve it".
To enrich and accompany the debates, the organizers have invited, as they do every year, a few experts from the economic world. With, sometimes, quite unexpected proposals for reflection. Like the one proposed by Franck Molina, research director at the CNRS in Montpellier, who will come to talk about the… brain. “It's logical, the brain of the business leader must adapt”, justifies the president of Medef Hérault Montpellier.
The lack of knowledge of elected politicians
Indeed, if the company must evolve and adapt, so must the employer's software. “The business leader has been formatted to his organization, his brain must adapt to the new forms that must be put in place”. If we find again this year the expertise and analysis of Frédéric Dabi, CEO of Ifop, we will have the opportunity to listen to other visions of the observation of the business world.
“This year we have invited the philosopher Chloé Morin, author of a book on the theme On a les politiques qu’on mérite". Her perspective will not be too much to analyze the role of policies in economic dynamics. This is also a request from Patrick Martin, the national president of Medef. “He asked us to meet with the elected representatives of the three major blocs resulting from the legislative elections at the beginning of the summer to explain to them the role of business”.
“The speeches heard have discouraged business leaders”
As surprising as this request may seem, it reflects the observation of economic actors today: “the speeches heard after the dissolution on the company and the place of the economy have discouraged business leaders”, insists Jean-Marc Oluski. He points out that “unemployment has never been so low in France, we must not break this momentum, otherwise it is very likely to start rising again”.
Also note the presence of Aurélie Piet, economist, Benoît Tabaka, secretary general of Google France and Ben Aymerich, mentalist. Bruno Arcadipane, vice-president of the national Medef and president of Action Logement, is also announced.
