“Medical desert: how to improve access to care ?”, a conference given in Pont-Saint-Esprit, a town affected by the lack of doctors

Emilie Marcé, coordinator of the Multi-professional Health Centers for the Pont-Saint-Esprit sector, will present this new model to reduce medical deserts.
The Popular University of Gard Rhodanien is offering a conference in Pont-Saint-Esprit on Monday, October 7, on the theme: “Medical desertification: how to improve access to care ?”. It will be hosted by Emilie Marcé, coordinator of the Multi-professional Health Centers for the Pont-Saint-Esprit sector.
“Reduction of medical deserts”
Emilie Marcé will talk about the new model of multidisciplinary health centers, with a multi-professional team, “a model that is still a minority in France and has proven its ability to be beneficial for users in the regions, in terms of reducing medical deserts, public health, and reducing inequalities” she explains in her presentation of the conference.
"This current topic, often the subject of local controversy, will be presented mainly in the form of possible solutions applicable now and in the future" explains Michel Tachon, president of the UPGR, referring to the recent controversy by way of press releases and press conferences between the former mayor of Pont-Saint-Esprit Claire Lapeyronie, also a regional councilor, and the current mayor Valère Ségal. The new municipal team having chosen not to join the public interest group Ma santé, Ma Région, supported by the Occitanie Region, defended by Claire Lapeyronie.
