Forward Melker Karlsson will spend the remainder of the season in the Swedish elite league as he signed a contract with Skelleftea AIK in the last few hours.
The financial terms of the agreement were not specified.
Karlsson will thus reconnect with the organization for which he played from 2008-2009 to 2013-2014 before wearing the uniform of the San Jose Sharks. In Scandinavia, the club is also delighted with the return of the 30-year-old hockey player.
“His experience and quality as a player will make us more stable and can help this team for the rest of the campaign,” Skelleftea AIK sporting director Erik Forssell said in a statement released on Tuesday.
Over the past year, Karlsson has six goals and as many assists for 12 points in 61 games with the Sharks. He has totaled 112 points in 396 career NHL games.
