Menu at a low price: good discounts on the package of 18 eggs
|< /p> UPDATE DAY
In order to help our readers deal with the repercussions of rising food prices, among other things, our new collaborator Myriam Gendron, creator of the site Just food< /em>, offers a weekly menu at a low price from the best grocery discounts of the week.
Grocery discounts of 23 to 29 March 2023
Despite the snow that is slow to melt, this menu was intended as a small preview of the freshness that is coming!
Lemon (the 2 lb bag is $2.96 at Super C) makes a few appearances over the recipes to put a little sunshine on your plates, but also to use it to the fullest! The bags are often more advantageous than the unit in terms of price… but not if you end up wasting half of the fruit! If you don't know what to do with leftover lemons, it's better to be proactive and think about preserving them right away before they go to the compost bin. The zest and juice keep very well in the freezer. I like to prepare portions of about 1 tbsp. lemon juice in ice cube trays, then just transfer them to an airtight container. For the zest, you can make portions or freeze as is. It's very easy to use when you need it for a recipe, it's not necessary to buy lemons when they are expensive… and it's zero waste (this goes for all citrus fruits )!
With Easter just three weeks away, it's best to remember that planning is the key to saving! The week of an event, when everyone needs and wants to buy the same foods (like the famous ham and the necessities for a brunch), the grocers do not have to lure you home with monster bargains… D Elsewhere, it's the same at Christmas and Thanksgiving. By spreading purchases over a few weeks depending on what is on sale, we also reduce the bill when receiving!
Obviously, you can't store fresh berries in advance, but you can freeze animal protein and keep eggs in the fridge for a long time! Along those lines, this week PC Optimum members can get 500g of bacon for $4.88 at Maxi and the house brand 375g pack is $3.88 at Super C. Still at Super C (it's a good stop to make), you can find the 200g package of sliced frozen smoked Atlantic salmon for $5.88 (I don't remember the last time it was this low) and eggs are at their best price (18 for $3.62, limit 3 per customer).
Happy Meals!

2 Lebanese cucumbers equivalent to about 1/3 English cucumber. As for the tomatoes, you could replace them with about twenty grape tomatoes cut in half. For fine herbs, you can always use their dried version, but in a ratio of 1:3, which would give about 40 ml of dried parsley (2 tbsp + 2 tsp) and 20 ml of dried mint (1 tbsp + 1 tsp).
