Menus at low prices: Quebec products on sale
|< /p> UPDATE DAY
In order to help our readers deal with the repercussions of rising food prices, among other things, our new collaborator Myriam Gendron, creator of the site Just food< /em>, offers a weekly menu at a low price from the best grocery discounts of the week.
Grocery discounts from 25 to 31 May 2023
< strong>That's it, the good weather is coming: this week we are entitled to a menu… with local flavor!
After the asparagus last week, it's the turn of the Quebec radishes to show up! A touch of color and freshness that we can happily enjoy until mid-October! If we are used to eating radishes as raw vegetables or incorporating them raw into our recipes, they are no less delicious when cooked. Its taste softens and is even sweeter after cooking! This week's salmon recipe is therefore a great introduction.
Speaking of radishes, remember to remove the leaves from them when you return from the grocery store to extend their life. For what ? It is through the leaves that they lose the most water and that their aging accelerates. You will therefore easily give yourself several days of grace by cutting their tops. We then favor a packaging or a ventilated container with the addition of a cloth or paper towel to keep the radish crunchy… and dry!
Good cooking!
FEATURES THIS WEEK
FLYERS OVERVIEW  ;
Another fairly uneven week where a simple look at featured foods hints at which banner is the stop of choice, as Super C once again has a varied offering between meats, fruits and vegetables as well as staples. Otherwise, in general, there is nothing to get carried away. Eggs are back at great prices, but it was the butter that caught my eye. We have seen this price less than once a month this year: now is the time to take advantage of it. Still, here are some great weekly deals:

Tarragon is an anise-flavored herb (like black licorice). If you are not fond of it, you could replace it with another herb on the menu, basil or parsley for example. For a reduced price per serving, you can always replace the wine with more broth!

For baking, opt for a very high temperature (preheat to 500°F and drop to 450°F when baking). Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, add the toppings and cook for a few minutes, watching closely. For the toppings, opt for the extra cooked chicken and asparagus earlier in the week: all you have to do is roll out the dough, assemble and cook everything!
FRIDAY
SPRING MINESTRONE

- Preparation: 10 min
- Cooking: 20 min
- Price per portion: 2.71 $

As it is not leek season, a more economical option is to replace it with onion (yellow or white). Since the onion is more potent, be sure to sweat it well with the green onions and garlic.

Recipe makes 12 servings. Feel free to cut it into thirds if you want a four-serving yield. A can of mixed beans would then do the trick as a replacement for all three varieties.

For the quantity required, do not buy vanilla sugar. Replace it with more white sugar and add a small touch of vanilla essence (1/2 tsp maximum). If you think you're wasting your egg yolk, know that it can be frozen (it will keep for about four months).
