Mexico city | The body of a member of a mexican State, a member of the president’s party, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has been found in a mass grave more than a month after his abduction, announced on Wednesday the head of the State.

Anel Bueno, member of the local Parliament of the State of Colima (west), had been removed on 29 April by armed men while she was involved in a project for health prevention against the sars coronavirus.

The president, Lopez Obrador has announced at his daily press conference that the body had been discovered on Tuesday and that a person had been arrested.

He indicated that the federal authorities were supportive of the branch office in the investigation.

On Tuesday, the local prosecutor had also announced the discovery of seven bodies that could belong to the police having disappeared in the neighboring State of Jalisco.

Despite the confinement imposed to try to curb the epidemic of coronavirus, the violence has not waned in Mexico.

Three thousand homicides were reported in march, a record since the arrival in power of Mr. Lopez Obrador in December 2018. In April, where the containment has ran for the whole month, the numbers are hardly better, with 2.950 killings.
