MHB handball players in reconquest mode before welcoming Cannes to Spinosi

In the Women's National 1, 5th day, the MHB hosts Cannes-Mandelieu this Saturday, October 12 at 6 p.m., at the Spinosi gymnasium (Odysseum Montpellier).

The MHB players have had to keep their heads down in recent weeks, not spared from injuries on the pitch and in life. Nine players who have been absent since the start of the season, key players, are on their way back. From Nouri Hassanaly to Fabiola Makamté, including Emma Arino and Camille Denojean. “We hope the worst is over, says the Mouettes coach, Elvine Granier. We are recording the return of most of the injured with a physical level that is still below what would be needed to be ultra-efficient; now, we hope that the storm has really passed and we will move forward."

"We must look forward"

This reduced squad has had to deal with a hellish schedule with the three biggest N1 teams as opponents. “We learned to dance in the rain, we didn't get very good results but we hung on,” continues Elvine Granier. “We lost these matches with weapons in hand. We never gave up and that's a satisfaction because I want warriors. Now, we have to look forward.” We need to get results fairly quickly with the girls' return.”

Go get the points

Especially since psychologically, with a team that has played at the top of the table in recent years, we need to understand this “false” start. “It's something we don't really know; we have almost as many setbacks as last season. It's a status we don't know but in which we won't stay for long, I hope. Knowing also that we are in a year of transition and if I would have liked to ride last year's wave, we have to work for next year. The leaders are not worried but the competitor that I am, like the girls, means that they will give their all to re-establish a dynamic in October that I also hope will be really operational in November."

Cannes, an experienced opponent

As the MHB demonstrated last Saturday by drawing in Annecy (30-30), they will have to go and get the points as quickly as possible. It will not be an easy task against Cannes, a team that has one of the best starting sevens, believes the Montpellier coach. "They are experienced, have all played at a higher level. That's the paper. We are capable, if we have the strength, of doing something. We just have to start from the front and not be afraid to win. Put ourselves now in a position to start winning again. It's going to be a tough match, with a lot of physical commitment and we'll have to be ready to respond.”

The N1F match will be followed by the N3F derby between MHB II and Lattes, at 8:30 p.m. I subscribe to read the rest
