It's a new little event in an incredible season. And a new transfer made during the year, decidedly fashionable. The MHR will let its fly half slip away Paolo Garbisi (23 years old), who joins Toulon. The rumor, born at the beginning of February, has become truth. According to L'Equipe, the Italian international (33 caps) is having his medical examination this Thursday. In recent days, he has increased his discussions with Var management, including manager Pierre Mignoni.
According to our information, Garbisi is under contract with Montpellier until February 26. But he will no longer wear the Hérault jersey. The native of Venice is currently playing in the Six Nations Tournament with Squadra Azzura. His last appearance with the MHR will be the trip to Treviso (27-19), his training club, in Challenge.

A heartbreaking transaction for Montpellier residents. Always smiling, bilingual in less than two weeks, the Transalpine was one of the public's favorites. And the locker room. Even if his performances on the field have not always exuded unfailing serenity (he is only 23 years old!), he remains the opener who guided the MHR to its first title of French champion in June 2022. "You had to wait until there was an Italian to win", he kept repeating, laughing.
"It's something that we would have liked to make happen before but there were hazards"
55 matches later, Garbisi joins the Rade. On his way, he will not come across Christopher Tolofua. The French international hooker (30 years old, 8 caps) is heading in the opposite direction. Trained in Toulouse, "Tolo" has signed up for three and a half years with Montpellier. A recruitment also carried out with the aim of "working and building for the future"< /em>, notifies MHR manager Patrice Collazo.
Sportingly, the arrival of the player is good news for the Montpellier staff. Australian Brandon Paenga-Amosa and Georgian Vano Karkadze were the only two with a professional contract in the squad, while Adrien Sonzogni is still a hopeful.

"When we released Latu, we had players already targeted. Things were being started. It couldn't be done for X reason. Each club has its constraints, and you have to be internal to master and understand. It's something that we would have liked to achieve before but there were hazards. Chris is joining us this week, we are very happy", confides Collazo.

Active on the pitch and comfortable with the ball in hand, Tolofua is considered one of the best in his position in closed scrum. His relationship with Patrice Collazo, who coached him from 2018 to 2021 at the RCT, was a determining factor. "He was often criticized for his method, because he was frank and said things. But I met a great guy, full of values. So sometimes he was a little old-fashioned, but I think he progressed, assured the hooker in Var Matin at the beginning of January. From our years together, I learned that everyday life and extra rugby were perhaps even more important than the field. When I arrived in Toulon, it was also for Patrice, because I was looking for a coach who would get into me to push me, and push me to my limits. And I know he's capable of getting the best out of a lot of players."
Parce qu'aujourd'hui, c'est la journée de l'amour 💙, et qu'en amour, on ne (dé)ment pas, nous officialisons l'arrivée de Christopher Tolofua !#TeamMHR
