MHSC: end of season for captain Téji Savanier, who receives a two-match suspension after his red card against Toulouse

Jugé coupable d’un coup de coude sur le Toulousain Casseres, le capitaine de Montpellier ratera les deux dernières journées de championnat.
After blowing away the show and the cold last Friday in Toulouse (1-2 victory) – a success which definitively ensured the Héraultais' retention in Ligue 1 – Téji Savanier will experience the end of the championship in the stands. Season ended for the captain of the MHSC, who received two matches of firm suspension on Tuesday evening after sanction from the League's disciplinary committee.
Judged guilty of an elbow on Toulouse midfielder Casseres, Savanier received a deserved red card (65th), the first of his season, the eighth of his career, which makes him the most sanctioned active player in the five major championships.

Absent against Monaco and at Lens
He will therefore miss the Monaco reception this Sunday as well as the trip to Lens, on May 19, at the end of the championship. Regrettable for the player, who had so far participated in all MHSC matches in 2023-24 and scored nine goals, including seven penalties. "Having him play all the matches would have been good for him. Let him learn to control himself better", declared coach Michel Der Zakarian after the meeting.

We will therefore remember his last nugget in Ligue 1, last week in a stunned Municipal Stadium: a sublime volley into the top corner of Restes (27th), certainly the ;rsquo;one of the best goals of the year. Last consolation: having suffered "only" of two firm matches, Téji Savanier may well apply for the kick-off of next season.
