While annual negotiations on consumer product prices continue between manufacturers, Michel-Edouard Leclerc predicted a drop in inflation for 2024.
Guest of Télématin on France 2 this January 2, 2023, Michel-Edouard Leclerc forecasts inflation significantly lower than that experienced last year. If Bruno Le Maire assured that the crisis was behind us, the boss of the Leclerc brand declared that' : "we must seek resolution of the crisis".
"We will seek inflation at 2%"
By going to "punch inflation", as Michel-Edouard Leclerc explains: "We are going to arrive, I think at a& nbsp;inflation, end of January – beginning of February, which will be at least half less than last year.
While commercial negotiations between distributors and manufacturers have been advanced by the government, the boss of large-scale distribution is counting on it to seek inflation at 2% when it was at 21% last year.
"We're going to look for pockets of price reductions"
If "It's not played" because "many industrialists are asking for increases of 6 to 8%" explains Michel-Edouard Leclerc, certain products will experience a drop:
"With all our colleagues in mass distribution, we went to ask them for deflation because'they had indulged in too much sugar last year' ;quot; said the president of the strategic committee of the Leclerc centers.
However, certain sectors should see their prices drop more quickly. The boss of the Leclerc brands anticipates the drop in the price of products such as cereals, coffee, pasta and even flour.
