Mike Matheson didn't make any friends in Anaheim

; DAY

Defender Mike Matheson failed to make any friends in Anaheim on Friday night when he fooled officials with an inconspicuous dive.

< p>In the third period, a 1-1 tie persisted between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ducks when the Quebec back won a showdown against Trevor Zegras in CH territory. The American sensation replied by lightly hitting Matheson on the calf with a stick.

On the replay, it seemed obvious that the member of the Habs had exaggerated his reaction when he fell on the ice. However, the officials saw nothing but fire, as Zegras received a minor penalty for darting.

Karma may have gotten the better of Matheson and the CH, since they were unable to capitalize on their massive attack opportunity. Rather, Martin St-Louis' troops received the only two other penalties of the game. Mason McTavish and Jakob Silfverberg thus threaded the needle to propel their people to victory.

Matheson has never been sanctioned for acting in his career. He has only been suspended once, in 2018, when he injured Elias Pettersson by checking him dangerously.
