Miley Cyrus has carried guilt and shame because of her controversies

UPDATE DAY

Miley Cyrus felt guilty and ashamed because of her past controversies.

In an interview for the 2023 issue of British Vogue published on Thursday (18 May 23), the Flowers interpreter referenced some of her most controversial performances, such as when she twerked Robin Thicke's pelvis onstage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Reflecting on the reactions, the musician wondered if she deserved to be so “severely judged”.

“I felt guilty and ashamed for years because of the controversy and anger that I caused, she said. Now that I'm an adult, I realize how harshly I was judged. I was judged harshly by adults as a child and now, as an adult, I realize that I would never judge a child harshly.”

Furthermore, Miley Cyrus insists that she didn't consider herself an 'attention-seeking person', but was simply trying to break away from her idol image young people and the character she played in the Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana.

“I drew attention to myself because I separated myself from the character that I had embodied. At 20 or 21, anyone has more things to prove. I am not my parents. I am who I am”, concludes the singer and actress.
