Miley Cyrus reveals the initial chorus of her song “Flowers”
|< /p> UPDATE DAY
It has become THE emblematic song of the strong woman who does not need a man to be happy; yet the initial lyrics of the song Flowers made it “the saddest song”, says Miley Cyrus.
We all know the catchy and powerful refrain “I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand…and I can love myself better than you do”. Miley Cyrus tells British Vogue magazine – whose June cover she covers – that the chorus originally ended with “and I can't love myself better than you do. ”.
“I wrote it a whole different way,” she says. It was more like the 1950s. The saddest song. The singer ultimately dismissed the gloom. “The song is a bit: fake it till you make it. Which I'm a big fan of. »
Guilt and shame
The 30-year-old star also tells the British magazine that she carried a lot of guilt and shame around her for years because of the many controversies and upheavals she has caused.
“Now that I'm an adult, I realize how harshly I was judged,” she explains. As a child I was judged harshly by adults and now as an adult I realize that I would never judge a child harshly. »
Her success
Miley Cyrus is aware that success is fleeting.
“A lot of headlines said 'It's Miley Time.' And I say to myself: this is exactly what it is. It's a moment. And it will be over, she said. It's not pessimistic. It's honest and that's fine with me. I prefer that actually. I don't like to stay on top. ”
While she released some of her career-best tunes over the last decade, Miley Cyrus explains that her life is now devoted to her own happiness. “Do I want to live my life for the enjoyment or fulfillment of someone other than my own? she says.
The entire interview with Miley Cyrus will be in the June print edition of British Vogue. It will be on newsstands next Tuesday, May 23.
