Miraculous reunion after seven years: The incredible journey of Marie's Chihuahua Chuck

Last August, Marie Torrente, former Miss Cote d'Azur and finalist of Miss France 1992, received an incredible call. After seven long years of fruitless searches, her beloved chihuahua, Chuck, was found.

On February 3, 2017, in Mougins, while workers were working in her garden, Marie Torrente was away for an hour. When she returned, one of her four dogs, Chuck, had disappeared. The Mouginoise moved heaven and earth to find him: a statement to the police station, posters throughout the region, and even an appeal for witnesses in “Nice-Matin”. Yet, despite all his efforts, the little chihuahua remains untraceable. “He was five at the time. After his disappearance, I had dark thoughts for a long time. I ended up, with difficulty, grieving…” confides Marie.

A call that changes everything

On August 26, Marie received a phone call from a veterinarian in the Landes. “When she told me she had Chuck, I screamed. I thought it was a mistake until she sent me a picture”. The little dog is in a worrying state: he has lost his teeth, suffers from eczema and has a heart problem. The new owners, worried about his health, had taken him to the vet, unaware until then that he belonged to someone else. As soon as this call is made, Marie mobilizes to bring Chuck home, reports Nice-Matin. Thanks to a network of friends and vets, a plan is quickly put in place. A veterinarian from Nice picks up Chuck in Bordeaux and takes care of him before flying him back to Mougins.

The mysteries of Chuck's past

But where was Chuck all these years ? A couple from Landes, who had renamed him Kiki, tell the story: “In 2017, a work colleague gave me this chihuahua because he didn't get along with his other dog. We took him to several vets, but no one ever told us anything about his real identity. The couple, unaware that Chuck had an owner, pampered him for all these years.

A painful return for all

The separation from the chihuahua was not easy for the couple from Landes. “We understand that this lady wants to get him back, but the separation is brutal. We were very attached to him, our Malinois and our 3-year-old daughter too”. The couple reluctantly agreed to return Chuck to his rightful owner according to our colleagues. Marie, for her part, only wants one thing: to rebuild the broken bond with her beloved dog.
