Gabriel Attal announced on X (formerly Twitter) that nearly 232 vaccination sites had already opened in France to deal with the mpox epidemic.
After placing the French health system in a "state of maximum vigilance" this Friday in the face of the mpox epidemic, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal held a new meeting this Monday, August 19.
100,000 doses of vaccines promised
The head of government took the opportunity to take stock of X (formerly Twitter) by announcing that “232 vaccination sites are already open across the territory. And many more will be available. At my request, the Ministry of Health has contacted the HAS (High Authority for Health) to update its vaccination recommendations by the end of August.

Gabriel Attal has also promised to donate 100,000 doses of vaccines to the most affected countries, in accordance with Emmanuel Macron's wishes.
Several cases worldwide
The Prime Minister recalled that "healthcare professionals have been alerted about the symptoms of the virus and what to do. And we are working to strengthen the diagnostic capacities of our laboratories and hospitals to better detect the new clade 1 variant".
On Thursday, Sweden announced that it had recorded a case of subtype clade 1b, the same strain that has appeared in the Democratic Republic of Congo since September 2023, more deadly and virulent than clade 2, endemic in West Africa. Cases have also been reported in Asia, Pakistan and Thailand.
However, “mpox is not the new Covid”, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.
