Montpellier institution of the Comédie, the Café Riche about to be sold

The establishment has been owned by the Peslier-Salas family for 53 years.

A page could well turn in a few days on the Comédie. The Café Riche is about to be sold. An agreement has been reached, the compromise signed. By the end of the month, if the agreement is confirmed, the central establishment of the square will have a new owner.

The seller

For the time being, the Peslier-Salas family is therefore still officially the owner of the business. Business acquired in… 1971. That is more than half a century. Three generations have succeeded one another at the head of the establishment.

The buyer

The potential buyer is also well known in the café and restaurant world. He is David Alessi. He already owns several places in Montpellier. He is notably established around the Castellane halls, with the restaurant L’Aveyronnais, the pizzeria Arezzo and the former Chez Romy.
