Montpellier/Port-Marianne: Sylvain combines board sports and delicatessen

Sylvain et son Petit Marché. Midi Libre

Le mois dernier, ce commerçant à ouvert une nouvelle adresse dans le quartier, le long de l'avenue du Mondial-98.

Since last month, a new grocery store has opened on Port-Marianne, avenue du Mondial 98: Le Petit Marché. Originality of this business, it is in fact a double store with Sylvain at the head. With on one side the grocery store in place of a former beauty institute and, on the other side, a shop dedicated, since 2016, to board sports (hockey, rollerblading ) .

From Grenoble, Sylvain came to Montpellier as a board sports coach. Until 2015. Sylvain invests himself in projects that are close to his heart. And after several experiences in animation and at college, he decided to diversify his commercial activity.

"I I had to find something to do
which I take pleasure in doing"

"Since the closure of the institute, I had to find an activity that I enjoy doing, the opening of this grocery store is therefore a new challenge for me, but I always invest myself in things that fascinate me, he explains.

In his grocery store Sylvain only offers quality delicatessen products from small producers. "All the products come from small producers encountered at trade fairs or markets and who all have a little story to tell", he explains.

Old-fashioned raclette machines

We therefore find, for example, a choice of varied wines, olive oil from Clermont-l’Hérault, vinegar from Aubagne, caviar from Neuvic, or products based on lemon from Menton. Originality: Syvain offers to rent old-style raclette machines found in mountain restaurants with the tailor-made composition of charcuterie and raw milk raclette cheese platters.

Among the beautiful stories of the products that Sylvain offers for sale in his grocery store, there are in particular the products of the small Norman family farm Les Pailles d’O. "A year ago, we discovered a young farming couple on the show Who Wants to Be My Partner. They were looking for investors to get by. He had the idea of transforming their rye scraps into 100% natural reusable straw. I contacted them to resell their product. It is with great pleasure that we continue to offer their straws and stirrers, Sylvain enthuses.
