The departmental and regional leaders of the Wood Trades Union, meeting in Montpellier, will elect their new national president this Friday morning. Technical advice and regulatory monitoring

The Union of Wood Trades has 9,000 member companies representing nearly 100,000 employees; it is the 4th union of trades in the Building Federation. It brings together and defends professionals in carpentry, layout, carpenters, opening manufacturers and builders of wooden frame houses. Very technical professions to which she brings her expertise as well as regulatory monitoring.

Charpente de Notre-Dame

During his mandate, Thierry Ducros focused on strengthening the representativeness of professions and all companies within the UMB bodies at regional and departmental levels. "I went to all the regions to explain to members what the UMB is, what tools are available to them" explains the company manager based in Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréveils.

An action which takes place in a rapidly developing sector. The number of companies specializing in these professions increased by 56% between 2010 and 2020. At the same time, the share of member companies increased from 5,000 in 2014 to nearly 9,000 in 2023. Thierry Ducros now observes "unanimity on the quality of the CVs of apprentices received by companies, which shows the attractiveness of young people for our professions."

The UMB was pleased that the reconstruction of the framework of Notre-Dame was carried out by four of its members.
