More than 70 000 dead from the COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean

The number of deaths due to the epidemic of coronavirus in Latin America and the Caribbean has surpassed Wednesday night, the threshold of 70 000, of which more than half in Brazil, according to a count by AFP based on official figures.

Nearly 1.5 million people infected in the region, 71 104 dead, including 39 680 in Brazil, the third country in the most grief-stricken in the world. These official figures are probably lower than reality, according to the scientific community.
