Le double champion du monde en titre Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) a remporté sans trembler le Grand Prix d’Autriche de MotoGP, 11e manche sur 20 de la saison, dimanche au Red Bull Ring de Spielberg.

The Italian, who had already won the sprint on Saturday, dominated the race and beat the Spanish world vice-champion Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), as well as his teammate and compatriot Enea Bastianini (Ducati).

“My pace and that of Jorge (Martin) were incredible today. I was trying to do a little better than him on every lap and I succeeded. “We had to be careful with the tire management at the end of the race but it went well and I'm really happy,” said Bagnaia.

The Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), six-time MotoGP world champion, took fourth place after a crazy comeback: third on the grid, he missed his start and was hit by the Italian Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-Pramac) and found himself relegated to 13th place at the end of the first lap.

But as is often the case, he overtook his opponents one after the other to finish just off the podium. On the home turf of his KTM team, South African Brad Binder took a fine fifth place after starting in 12th position, ahead of Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati-VR46) and Spaniard Maverick Vinales (Aprilia). The top 10 is completed by Morbidelli and the Spaniards Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) and Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini).

In the world championship standings, Bagnaia takes sole control with a five-point lead over Martin, while Bastianini and Marquez are relegated far behind, at 61 and 83 points respectively.

The two Frenchmen, on the other hand, had a disastrous race on the hilly Red Bull Ring track as they finished outside the points: Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), sanctioned for going too many times outside the limits of the track, finished 18th while Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR) took 21st and penultimate place.
