Motorcycle: Wade Young left his red mark on the 9th edition of the 24 MX Alestrem
How to bounce back when your name is Wade Young and you have lost your official pilot status on the eve of a new season ? Answer: you accept the handlebars of a Gas Gas offered by Moto Park and Suttel Motors Group and we participate in Alestrem. Trying to win this extreme enduro for the second year in a row. In other words, by emerging victorious from a course reserved for the titans of enduro, capable of the worst efforts for eight hours.
Winner with a motorcycle he didn't know
This is the feat that the South African pilot achieved on Sunday January 28, on the Alesian heights of Mercoirol, with a motorcycle… that he did not know.
As for the Montpellier Gas Gas dealership, we can congratulate ourselves on having bet on plate number 1 and Wade's red tunic. Winning the jackpot was the reward for a daring commercial move. From now on, it's up to the tall blond pilot to make this victory bear fruit, professionally, in the form of revenge.
With Teodor Kabakchiev, Sherco thinks about the future
On the Sherco side, the separation with Wade was done "by mutual agreement", to use the expression of Jordan Curvalle, sports manager from the Nîmes brand which specifies: "We worked for seven years with Wade and obtained great victories. But we want to prepare for the future with Teodor Kabakchiev, fourth in 2023." In the same place this year, after a victory in the prologue in Alès, the athletic 24-year-old Bulgarian should make Sherco's good days.
Great sixth place for Alésien Fabien Poirot
"The level of Alestrem continues to rise and that comes from foreign pilots", admitted Fabien Poirot before the prologue. The Alésien had an admirable performance, taking sixth place, after finishing within the allotted time. This feat, reserved for a handful of pilots in the Elite category, will give wings to the Gardois, heading off for the Touquet enduro.
From this very popular edition, we will also remember the incredible duel between Wade Young and his former teammate Mario Roman (Sherco) in the last few hundred meters, the Spaniard, winner in 2018, 2020 and 2022, losing by a few seconds; the podium of his compatriot Alfredo Gomez (Rieju); and the fourth and fifth places of Teodor Kabakchiev and Michaël Walkner (Australia, Gas Gas).
Now for the tenth anniversary…
