Une portion de l’autoroute A709 sera fermée la nuit du mardi 6 au mercredi 7 août 2024, pour cause de travaux sur le nouveau pont qui reliera la gare Sud-de-France au réseau de tramway de Montpellier. Deux déviations sont prévues.

Motorists, make your arrangements: the night of Tuesday 6 to Wednesday 7 August, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., traffic on the A709 will be interrupted between the Montpellier South interchange and the Montpellier Est interchange.

Finishing work

The construction of the work, which replaces the old Vauguières road bridge, demolished last October, is entering its final phase. According to Vinci Autoroutes, "finishing" and & quot;replace the supports", which serve to cushion the passage of vehicles.

The work is part of the extension of tram line 1 to Sud-de-France station. Recognized as being of public utility, this extension will also serve the Pierre Mendès France high school as well as the future Cambacérès district. Commissioning is planned for the second half of 2025, coinciding with the planned launch of line 5 at the end of 2025.

Detours in both directions

In the direction of Béziers towards N&imes, exit at the Montpellier Sud interchange (n° 30) and follow the S10  diversion:
Follow the RD 986 towards Palavas then the RD62E2 and the RD62 before taking the RD 21 and the R 66 towards Montpellier. Take the A709 again & the Montpellier Est interchange (n° 29). In the direction Nîmes towards Béziers, exit at the Montpellier Est interchange (n° 29) and follow the S11  diversion:
Follow the RD 66 and RD 21 then the RD62 and RD62E2 towards Palavas. Continue on the RD 986 to find the A709 à the Montpellier Sud interchange (n° 30).
