Every year on February 1, motorway toll rates are revised. At the end of November, Clément Beaune, then Minister of Transport, promised that this annual increase would be kept below 3%.

Vinci Autoroutes announced this Wednesday, January 24, the increase in motorway toll rates on its network from February 1. This will be 2.71%, indicated the first motorway concessionaire in France, ensuring that it was a “limited” increase, and “the weakest in the sector".

According to the figures of Capital, the price of tolls will increase by 2.79% for Sanef, from 3.02% for APRR, 3.04% for AREA and 3.08% for SAPN, an average of just over 3% increase.

A new tax on motorway concessions

On November 29, Clément Beuane, then Minister of Transport, announced that the increase in toll prices would be less than 3% on February 1, the date on which toll prices are revised each year, in link with inflation. The minister then reacted to the "lies" according to which the new tax on concessionaires would be passed on to users.

The government plans to introduce in 2024 a new tax on long-distance transport infrastructure, i.e. motorway concessions and airports. A measure which aims to "finance investments in electrical terminals, social leasing, or even the purchase of new trains", clarified Clément Beaune.

According to Le Parisien, the increase in toll prices will be greater next year and will be set at "5% on average from February 1, 2025".
