The music Festival of Lanaudière offers starting today and until August 9, a virtual edition. It will put online the 15 concerts that have marked the history of this summer event and will be available on the site lanaudiere.org during 48 hours.
We will present, also, in addition to the program, Tuesdays at 20h, films Ballerina, The Soloist, The Choir and Amadeus. All the information is online at the address lanaudiere.org.
Here is a selection of five shows to see.
The inaugural concert
On July 17, 1989, the Festival also inaugurated its amphitheatre with a concert featuring the american soprano Carol Nebblett, the tenor Vladimir Popov, bass Joseph Rouleau, canadian pianist Anton Kuerti, the Festival Orchestra and 350 singers, under the direction of conductor Semyon Vekshtein. We find pieces of Mussorgsky, Beethoven, excerpts from the opera un ballo in maschera and Aida by Verdi, and the Nessun dorma of Puccini.
All That Jazz
The jazz was in the spotlight at this concert, presented on 25 July 2003, featuring pianist Lorraine Desmarais and the Orchestre Métropolitain, under the direction of conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The show entitled All That Jazz features the music of West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, Duke Ellington, the immense Rhapsody in Blue ” by George Gershwin and parts of Lorraine Desmarais.
Peter and the wolf
The Metropolitan Orchestra, with Kim Yaroshevskaya to the narrative, interprets the famous musical tale of Prokofief, presented on 28 July 1991, to mark the centenary of the composer Sergei Prokofief. The concert, which was broadcast to the les Beaux dimanches, Radio-Canada, is under the direction of conductor Agnes Grossmann.
Ravel and Debussy
Under the direction of Kent Nagano, the Montreal symphony Orchestra delves into the music of the impressionists and the avant-garde of Ravel and Debussy, the concert of August 8, 2014. The musicians perform Prelude to the afternoon of a faun, La Mer, and Debussy’s Clair de lune and works, Spanish Rhapsody, Gaspard de la nuit and la valse of Maurice Ravel.
This recital by the pianist quebec Marc-André Hamelin, will be presented on July 21, 2017, showcases his work shows off varied written in 2014. He also attacks the works Blessing of God in solitude and Fantasy and Fugue on the theme B-A-C-H by Franz Liszt, and the Four impromptus of Schubert.
