In ancient mass grave on the territory of modern Poland were the people who died from blunt force trauma. All the bodies were neatly stacked in accordance with a certain order; next to the dead were left values. The study of the remains took several years, but the result became known the tragic events that occurred in the period between 2776 and 2880 BC
DNA analysis showed that the dead belonged to four families, consisting of close relatives. Four women were buried with their children. In this case, four male children had each other brothers on the father (from two different mothers). And if the women belonged to various age groups, adult males were only two: 20-year-old boy and a man older than 50 years (his wife and son lying next to it). Identifying family ties, the specialists have figured out a “scheme” by which was laid the rest of the body: the children were close with their mothers.
Obviously, the funeral was conducted by the individuals familiar with the relationship between the dead. They carefully laid out values and other artifacts. Allegedly, the murderers were attacked in a time when more young fathers were absent – for example, provide food or have participated battles. After returning home and finding the relatives of the dead men had only to send their loved ones last journey with military honors.
To accurately recreate the events of that ominous day scientists cannot, but most likely, the killers were representatives of the battle axe culture during the copper and bronze ages they increasingly moved to Europe, seizing new territory.
In turn, deceased, on the basis of the found in the grave artifacts were assigned to the globular amphora culture, widespread in Central Europe, about 3200-2800 BC the name of the culture because of the distinctive style of her ceramics.
This Chapter of human history have not been studied to the end, and burial sheds light on some questions about it. In particular, based on the analysis of DNA revealed that the victims were descendants of Central European farmers of the Neolithic period interspersed with minor genes of West European hunter-gatherers. This refutes the theory that the globular amphora culture in Europe brought the Indo-Iranian nomads, and it also allows you to take another look at the origin of the Indo-European languages.
