Loved big brother

At Dorval Airport (Trudeau) in April 1977, 46 years ago! Little Nathalie, 7, had come to welcome her famous brother, René, who, at 16, had accumulated success in several countries around the world. The little one had already lent her young voice to a Simard family holiday album.  

L'aventure musicale

Monthly October 1980, Nathalie, 11, was the guest of the popular animator Réal Giguère, at CJMS, accompanied by Paolo Noël who had recorded with her the duet I should never have left, song -title of his new album. Over the course of her career, the little girl from Île d'Orléans will lend her voice to no less than 25 albums. 

40 years ago

With Jaques Boulanger in 1983, when Nathalie launched the album of her huge success La danse des canards, which was going to cumulate fabulous sales of a few hundred thousand copies and would win the Félix prize for the best-selling LP at the Gala de l'Adisq. At 14, she had just completed a triumphant tour of Quebec with her brother. 

The darling of a generation

Summer 1984, the inimitable smile of young Nathalie became the idol of children. The following year, she hosted Le Village de Nathalie, a big success for Télé-Métropole (TVA), which won her a Métrostar trophy. The following year, the young singer launched an eponymous album and, already, a compilation album. Her fan club had more than 50,000 members. 

Discs galore

In 1986, Nathalie released the second album Le Nathalie's Village, from a series of three. The following year, the young woman will make a great turning point by recording with her brother René the album Tourne la page which put an end to her children's songs. The singer will receive several gold and platinum discs.

  • Nathalie Simard hosts her own radio show, Country pop at work, in the afternoon from 1 p.m., broadcast on the Country Pop network (92.9 and 103.1) in the Mauricie region where she lives. See countrypop.ca.
  • The singer now has her own print magazine Simplement bien avec Nathalie, in stores every three months. She also writes a weekly column in the magazine La Semaine.
