Living on site, he and his wife were indeed awakened that morning, around 6 o'clock, by suspicious crackling sounds which did not bode well. Especially since as soon as he opened his front door to see what was happening, he involuntarily created a draft of air and everything went wrong. flaming.

"We were really hot. Especially since the roller shutters no longer worked because everything had tripped. In fact, the fire had been smoldering for three hours but we hadn't noticed anything. When you think about it, we were lucky that day because we should have been found dead inside, between the flames and all the fumes we inhaled."

A saving service door

The couple was lucky that they had a back door installed which opened onto a terrace and an exterior staircase. It was through there that they were able to extricate themselves from this inferno and seek shelter.

"The firefighters picked us up downstairs. We were barefoot and in pajamas. My hair and feet were burned. I had blisters on the arch of my feet for over two months. My wife and I ended up in the emergency room because our oxygen level was too low due to the fumes we inhaled. They kept us for two days for observation."

In this accidental fire, resulting from a short circuit, the swimming pool builder lost everything: his store with a total area of ​​440 m2, its stock of products as well as its accommodation. Fortunately, he was able to continue his activity thanks to a second small store he owns in Vendargues. This is what avoided technical unemployment for all of its employees.

It’s really a great relief

"It saved us. Then, the insurance companies, the parent company of Desjoyaux and the mayor of Lattes were very responsive and things progressed well. The reconstruction began a year ago and we have just reopened this Tuesday, March 19. Everything is new. We found a beautiful work area (400m2) with parking, outdoor sheds and two exhibition swimming pools. It’s really a great relief< /em>", sighs the person concerned.
